A case study in applied laziness
Managers. We hate them because they do seemingly less work than us but make more money. Well, this is a perfect example of my theory of applied laziness. Managers got where they are because they were seen as superior workers in their past position. Maybe you don't really want to work that hard, but if the carrot in front of you is big enough (such as an overbloated managerial salary), you'll put in the work today to make that outrageous salary tomorrow. Applied laziness. Of course, you're still a loafer, but you see that your expected payoff is a lot greater if you can just put a little more work in today. And when you're making that sweet money, you can go back to being lazy (unless you want to continue to climb the corporate ladder, but now you're starting to sound like someone with ambition and drive, so you're disqualified from being a part of this case study).
