Most of us are familiar with the story of Jesus turning water into wine, but how about turning water into...gasoline?
The idea may not be as far-fetched as you think. Well, at least according to Rocky Twyman, founder of Pray at the Pump. He believes that prayer is directly responsible for the drop in gas prices over the past couple weeks.
"Aaaaaaaand now, for His next trick, the Amazing God will make global warming DISAPPEAR!" Um, sure. I don't know what's sadder, the fact that Mr. Twyman believes that God would intercede on America's behalf to help us deal with $4 gas, or that he clearly thinks that this should be at the top of God's to-do list.
Dear Mr. Twyman: you're a heartless bastard.
Billions of people in the world don't have access to clean water and you're praying to save a couple bucks on gas? Just because you don't have your priorities straight doesn't mean that deity doesn't.
Here's what Ian Ayres has to say about the subject of miracles and science over at Freakonomics.

I think my favorite part in the article was this quote:
"If God behaves differently in response to testing prayers than to non-testing prayers, then we will not learn whether non-testing prayers help (or hurt)."
In other words, God is a particle-wave.
This is enormous! Do you know what the implications of this idea are? God is an electron! His behavior seems completely random when observed, and yet when we're not intentionally observing his actions, a majority of people do believe in some form of fate or divine intervention in their lives. This is amazing! It completely redefines my idea of God and science! I must ponder on this more!
